     Becoming dissatisfied with staying in the studio, Mike has taken to plein air painting. The artist states: "From this new approach to painting directly out in nature, the viewer gets to see the end result of what truly inspires me to paint. The battle over time and technique is clearly evident in the final product. Each critical decision and brushstroke leaves a positive or negative impact on the painting. I find this very exciting."

     Michael's paintings exhibit strong composition, an exquisite quality of light and strong brushwork. Recent awards include being the two time winner of the Arthur T. Hill Memorial Award for the best landscape by an artist 45 years or younger at the prestigious Salmagundi Club, New York.
